Wind Motor for Standard Player Action
By Jeffrey R. Wood

Hi Luke, There are two types of "Standard" (brand) wind motors.
The first folds down out of the way for tuning and has brackets
of cast iron machined and lightly nickel-plated. The second type
is more easily removable and has brackets formed from sheet steel
and coated in black lacquer.

I would recommend that you keep your piano as original as possible.
My suggestion is that you rebuild the motor you have, but be
forewarned: rebuilding a wind motor to run evenly requires more
skill than any other pneumatic restoration procedure.

I gather that you are a young person just getting started in the
hobby. Doing a job like this right usually requires experience.
Don't be too disappointed the first time around and give up. With
a little experience under your belt, it may take a second rebuild
to get a really satisfying outcome.

I would be happy to supply, free of charge, the materials you need.

Best wishes,

Jeff Wood
