Cable Euphona Recordo Player Piano
By David Dewey

Yes, the Recordo system is rather remarkable. I have a Cable Euphona
upright with it that is about 85% restored; I'd like to go over the
pump a little more to get a few more inches of vacuum out of it. The
amount of expression it gives is very remarkable. With the split
hammer rail it can provide quite a difference between bass and treble
even though it's not a split stack -- and by it's nature is somewhat
like the Duo-Art theme/accompaniment system in that the bass can be
louder than the treble at times.

The one "Achilles heel" of the system is the coding holes are close
to the roll edges, and as was noted, can be fragile, especially on long
rolls. One problem I have with mine is that there is no automatic
tracking device in my piano, just a thumb nut, so one has to adjust
as the roll plays. (Yes, I tap down one end before playing.)

A list of Recordo owners is a great idea; put me down!
