Seek Feathers for Greisbaum Singing Bird in Cage
By Pat DeWitt

Dear Fellow MMD friends, I have a problem which, to me, is much more
difficult than restoring piano pouches and valves! I have a vintage
Karl Greisbaum singing bird in a brass cage. The mechanism (the part
I would be most familiar with) works perfectly but the poor little
bird has lost most of his feathers.

Does anyone know of a source for the very tiny feathers that would
be appropriate to redo this bird? I have searched craft stores like
Michael's and Hobby Lobby, and they have lots of feathers but none
really tiny ones that would look natural and like this bird looked when
new.

Also do any of you know how to, or how I should proceed with this kind
of work (akin to taxidermy) to skillfully apply the feathers, if I can
find them? At least, there are similar birds-in-cages for sale on eBay
so I have several good pictures of what the bird should look like when
done.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!
