Bass Strings For Reproducing Pianos
By Steve Marx

Hi Gang, I decided to put my 2 cents in the hat over this topic.
The idea of sound is completely personal. I have rebuilt players
and pianos over the years and they have sounded awful, but to the
customer it sounded wonderful.

String making is a very specialised field. It took me five years
to design the non-rusting string, and no, they are not made of
stainless steel -- they are made of copper, the same as any other
string, but they do not corrode.

I have seen some of the strings being made by some of the big
names (on YouTube) and I just wonder how on earth they work. But
that is another topic all together. Basically, the sound is up to
the beholder. Also, everyone has their own idea of a great sound.
