Reed Organ Reed Puller
By John Grant

Thanks to all that sent messages, both here and in private, about
reed organ reed pullers. I probably should have done more intensive
research for sources. Schaff's stock #713 matches the remaining
examples I have on hand. Hopefully, they still have a supply.

I have made several serviceable substitutes in the past, but wanted
to make sure I could replace these "authentic" designs ones before
I place all of my stock in customer organs.

Many moons ago I used to do several of these instruments each year,
but the demand has dwindled to almost zero lately. Now all of a sudden
I have two in the shop, including an incredibly high-quality Loring &
Blake model with 15 stop knobs (which anyone who works on these will
will recognize does not mean 15 ranks). I felt duty-bound to replace
the missing original puller with a proper replica.

Modified paint can openers do the job, but in the final analysis,
they look like modified paint can openers. And yes, they are always
too short.
