Seek MIDI Encoder System For Roll Reader
By Timothy L'Amoureux

I was wondering if there are any MIDI recording systems that
accept dry contacts information. I wanted to build a pneumatic
88-note roll scanning device (if that's the right term). [Better
is "roll reader". -- Robbie]

I have the spool box and the pneumatically operated switches (all
from a pipe organ player). What I don't have is a way to connect
those switches to a MIDI device for recording the dry contact impulses.

Thanks for any help. If this project comes to fruition, I'll post
all of my collection on MMD. (Well, any that I would not get in
trouble for, anyway.)

[ See the MIDI encoders at http://midiboutique.com/MIDI-Encoders
[ "Dry" switch contacts work fine when the load is 12-volt organ
[ magnet valve coils that create a nice spark at the switch contacts.
 [
[ Without the sparking, however, the contacts at low voltage become
[ contaminated and unreliable -- think of the key contact problems
[ in the electronic organs of the 1960s. I recommend switching at
[ least 48 volts at a few milliamperes so that the contacts stay clean.
