"Marines' Hymn" Composer's Name on Music Roll
By Mike Walter

Hi all, Matthew Caulfield is wondering about whose name should be on
a band organ roll of "The Marines Hymn". The correct avenue should be
to contact Music Division of the Library of Congress. They would have
_the_ correct answer.

As a retired public librarian, I would humbly suggest that since the
main musical theme is attributed to Jacques Offenbach, he should have
credit for writing the music. The lyrics, since written by Thomas
Holcomb, should be attributed to Holcomb.

Sorry that the names aren't short, like Smith and Jones -- Offenbach
and Holcomb wouldn't take up too much space. You can also use a smaller
font. Have fun!

Mike Walter
