Orchestrion In Imhof London Shop

The famous Imhof orchestrion in London is now in the Musical Museum in

London, and has been for many years.  It was a showroom demonstrator for

the London shop of the Imhof & Mukle business, founded in 1845 by the

Imhof family.  Under Alfred Imhof, it became a top-end record store and

continued to trade the latest stuff until the 1970s. The orchestrion was

permanently loaned to the museum at some point, presumably 1960s. When

the business failed, it was found that the orchestrion was still an

asset on the company's books.  So Brentford had to buy it from the

receivers.
