Without wishing to kick off yet another round of the perennial discussion

about interesting the wider public/younger people in mechanical music, I

would just like to make an announcement about an initiative the Musical Box

Society of Great Britain is trying out at the moment.  To encourage people

generally to engage more with mechanical instruments, and to furnish the

Society with more photos of people engaging with instruments, the MBSGB is

running an open photo competition.  This is inviting entries of good-definition

photos capturing the essence of delight one experiences when engaging with a

mechanical instrument.  The closing date is August 31, 2018, and there is a

small cash prize in the event the winner is not already a member of MBSGB,

plus one year's free membership (applies to all entrants).  Full details,
