Seek Duo-Art Organ MIDI Files for Ringling Museum
By Marshall Foxworthy

I am working with Ron McCarty, curator of the Ca d' Zan mansion in
Sarasota, Florida, the John and Mable Ringling estate. I became
friends with Ron over the Aeolian Pipe Organ installed there, Opus
1559. I cataloged their entire collection of Duo-Art Rolls back in the
1980's. I also cataloged the roll collection of Charles Ringling. He
lived just two houses to the North. His Aeolian was Opus 1570, still
extant.

Ron and I have been talking through the years about the future of the
John Ringling organ and the preservation of the roll music. This lead
to a recent conversation about collecting roll music in MIDI format or
other miscellaneous digital formats for any possible future restoration.
This would include the equipment to interface with the instrument.
I am working for Ron to track down libraries of Duo-Art music and the
equipment required to interface with the organ in the future.

I wanted to know if anybody here has information or collections of
digital roll files that they would be willing to contribute to this
effort at the Ringling Museum? I am familiar with some of the wonderful
musical treasures contained within these rolls and what the Aeolian
residence organ represented. That is why I am working so hard to see
the John and Charles Ringling organs play again. I want to also make
sure there is Duo-Art music for these instruments as is only proper.
Thank you for any information or help.
