How To Clean & Lubricate the Mills Violano
By Craig Smith

[ Ref. Michael Clemens in 180804 MMDigest ]

Hi, The first thing is _do not_ get anything on those bow wheels.
The rosin that has found its way onto the surface and between the
discs is not happy if it gets junk (especially oil) on it. In fact,
I'd refrain from speaking the word 'lubricant' while looking directly
at the bow wheels, just to be safe!

As far as the tray goes, on my machine there are two screws at the
rear of the tray, just to the right of the big frame that holds the
finger magnets. These two screws hold the tray in place. I've never
removed mine so I am not positive whether they hold anything else,
so you might want to check with Dick Hack or Terry Haughawout, just
in case.

By the way, if the rosin buildup isn't really thick, you might just
leave it alone as it doesn't really do any harm.

Regards

P.S.: We had a nice visit with your friend Ray this last weekend,
winding down after the OHS convention and concert.
