Interchangeable Cylinder In Junghans Wall Clock
By Gary Martin

Greetings all, I am new to the MMD. I have been working with vintage
and antique clocks for many years and have been fond of music box
movements starting with my sisters little box with the ballerina on
top. I didn't realize that was barely the tip of the iceberg.

My interest in musical movements was rekindled when I received
a Junghans Vienna regulator wall clock for servicing with an
interchangeable cylinder movement mounted in the bottom of the case.
Up to that point all the wall clocks I had ever seen had a much
smaller movement mounted behind the dial. I find the same cylinder
movement mounted in Junghans alarm clocks and music boxes but cannot
find it in a wall clock. So, I am coming to you folks for help.

The time movement in the clock is stamped the second half of 1911.
Did Junghans manufacture their own music movements? I know this isn't
the place to ask so much about a clock but I have run into a dead end
on all the clock information sites and forums.

Thank you very much in advance. I think my clock hobby will slow
down (not stop) and include music movements. I bet it won't be hard
to convince my wife.

Gary Martin
