For sale: An important organ by George Pyke (clockmaker & organ builder
to King George III) in its original Thomas Chippendale case.

This spectacular sounding organ was built in 1772 and enjoys 32 keys
serving 5 stops.  The diapason and flute ranks by 64 wooden pipes.
The principal, twelfth and fifteenth serving 96 all metal pipes making
a total of 160 ranging from 6.5 to 22.75 inches.  One barrel is pinned
with 12 single tunes and the second with 6 spirally pinned tunes.

The musical programme comprising of subtle minuets, lively dance and
hymns, including Adeste Fideles, all of which are exceptionally well
arranged, and are listed on the original maker's labels, which remain
intact as does the date of 1772 found on the wind chest.

Unbelievably after almost 250 years, the original bellows remain intact
and supply the chambers with ample wind.

The whole organ is contained in a fine glazed mahogany bureau bookcase
style cabinet.  The quality, style, and construction along with
circumstantial evidence linking both organ builder and cabinet maker,
dictates the piece is almost certainly from the workshop of Thomas
Chippendale,

The piece measures 95" high, (241 cm) x 41" wide (104 cm) and 26"(66 cm)
