Unknown Center-drive Music Box Discs
By Ross Schacher

I have a question about music box discs. My parents had a 15.5" Regina.
After Mom's death, I've come into possession of it (until my niece gets
to the East Coast to pick it up, anyway) for a time. I was inventorying
all the discs that came with it: some original, some new from Porter.

But I have 23 discs that are about the size of an LP -- they measure
a bit over 10-5/8" diameter, or about 27.1 cm. They have no drive holes
around the circumference, but have a square hole next to the spindle
hole that I assume is for the drive. It's about 5mm x 7mm, being punched
through with the metal folded under.

I've attached a scan of one of them. They all appear to have the same
font, which I have a heck of a time deciphering. They're in a couple of
very old and fragile books that might be for old vinyl LPs, but these
discs fit in them quite nicely. Attached is a photo of one of them, too.

Obviously, the discs won't play on the Regina, but Dad would collect
everything and anything, figuring out that he'd have a use for it
someday. My guess is that he found these discs and planned on getting
the proper player for them ... someday!

Can anyone tell me what I have here? What would play them?
