Converting Audio to MIDI: "Francesca da Rimini"
By Jeff Stauffer

[ Ref. Ben Roth in 230516 MMDigest ]

Hello, The conversion process with Audio2Midi is pretty simple. Follow
this link and the instructions for use:

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1OjBJBkm91M7uXVRtU-DkuqU-g15CyQOY

It is open source so no guarantee implied. As far as I know no one has
endeavored to convert an audio file to MIDI file with this software
and then make a piano roll from it.

The experience so far is that when an audio file is converted it has
trouble playing on a solenoid piano since the notes are extended when
pedal is applied and keys are held down too long. I have been using
the note shortening routine for general note shortening for playback
on my QRS Pianomation piano and it is giving me reasonable results,
but I have never created a roll from a MIDI file.

That being said, you may want to read Spencer Chase's post on
processing these MIDI files after they are converted. Also, I think
he will have something to say about converting MIDI files to punch
control data for rolls as well.
