Seek Grandfather "Prayer Clock" Restoration
By David Evans

[ Ref. Mark Kinsler in 231105 MMDigest ]

Hi, this is a pretty standard Black Forest organ clock from mid-19th
century. I haven't ever heard them called 'prayer clocks' before!

The first and 4th links don't work, incidentally.

[ The problem lies with the 'plus sign' in the filenames, but only in
[ emails. Fortunately, the links work okay at the MMD web page; see
 [ https://www.mmdigest.com/archives/Digests/202311/2023.11.05.01.html

The wood-frame clock should not be difficult for a clockmaker to sort
out. The organ bellows (feeders) are the most critical part and need
exactly the right type of leather to enable them to work.

We used Havana pneumatic leather of medium thickness (0.018"-0.024")
and it will need cardboard stiffeners inside to stop it blowing out.
Chrome Hairsheep would probably work too. Organ Supply Industries
stock it: https://www.organsupply.com/

You may need an organ restorer to do that part. Hopefully the pipes
are in good order.

Good luck!
