Apollo Grand Piano With Art-Apollo Player
By David Dewey

Hi all, I had a phone call from a person in Chico, California (about
30 minutes drive from me), who has an Apollo grand piano. He tells me
it's from 1918 and had been rebuilt some years ago (decades). It has an
Art-Apollo player in it, which I understand plays Apollo X expression
rolls.

I am concerned that these are probably hard to find nowadays, and
this limits the music the player can produce. I would guess one could
tape over the expression holes and it would play regular 88-note rolls,
but with little expression since it uses an electric vacuum pump system.

So what is the group's thoughts on this player? I realize that the
market is pretty dead nowadays, and the Apollo name isn't one that holds
prestige like "Steinway," etc., so its value as a piano isn't great either.

Thanks in advance! I hope to see the piano in person in a week or so.
