Telektra Westinghouse Motor-generator Restoration
By David Krall

I recently acquired another Telektra-Westinghouse motor-generator
along with a very large collection of rolls. I have restored the
motor-generator, attached are a few photos.

I dismantled it completely, removed the stator from the case and
degreased everything including the stator. All electrical contact
areas were cleaned and polished. New leas were attached to both the
stator and the generator coils. It was necessary to remove the old
wrapping tape to access the attaching points for the new leads.

The stator and rotor received a generous coating of insulating spray
varnish. The generator coils were then re-wrapped with a special
cable wrapping tape, which is similar to friction tape but with
adhesive only on one side.

The case parts were sandblasted and repainted. After re-assembly
I plugged it in and it ran like a top. The nameplate output rating
is 14 volts DC, 7.15 amps.
