When accompanying a soloist I think the correct [music] tempo is
whatever the soloist wants, or that the conductor and soloist agree on.
Neither the accompanist nor a marking on a piano roll should set the
tempo for a performance. Much as we love our instruments, they aren't
the star of the show!
