Passing of Don Barr, Mills Violano Historian
By John Zuk

I am writing to share some sad news: Don Barr, a life-long collector,
restorer, and historian of the Mills Violano Virtuoso, died, peacefully
on Wednesday, January 15th, 2025.

Don was a generous and kind friend, and I will miss him immensely. His
contributions to our hobby were profound -- including the oral history
of Bert Mills, making a perforator and re-issuing Mills Violano rolls,
as well as salvaging and restoring dozens of machines.

Please visit https://violanopreservation.com/ to view many historic
materials and photos and learn more about Don's work.
