Seek Tune Composers on Early "A" Rolls
By Jere Ryder

We've selected an "A" roll, A-1618, produced by Powell-Malone
Associates [circa 1973], to accompany a small Ragtime pop-up exhibit
soon to open here at the Morris Museum and we need help to more
accurately identify the composers and dates of the last two selections
on that roll:

#9 - "The Trombone Slide" (J.M. Black?), and
#10 - "Hot 'N' Cold".

As noted on the label of A-1618:

"Composite roll from: CRE 151, 219; AUT 807; CRE 2222; AUT 934
and COL 1742".

Attached are the MP3 audio files being played on a Seeburg 'L' from
The Morris Collection. Please give a listen, any help is appreciated.

[ The trad jazz tune "Trombone Slide", credited to New Orleans

[ "Hot 'N' Cold" sounds like Chicago pianist James Blythe and it
[ could certainly be his own composition.
