Wurlitzer Ball Bearing Coin Accumulator
By Glenn Grabinsky

In response to Jim Quashnock's inquiry [260417 MMDigest] about the
ball bearing type coin accumulator he has in a Nelson-Wiggen Style 6T
orchestrion, it is actually a very late Wurlitzer coin accumulator.

These will usually will appear in very late Wurlitzer coin op pianos,
usually the same ones which have the 4-in-1 diecast valves on the
stack -- real "end of the line" stuff!

The patent for these, if you want to look it up, is US patent number
1,851,258, granted to Frank L. McCormick, the same fellow that
designed the Wurlitzer roll changer, duplex roll unit, gear standard
and drive unit and all of the other styles of coin accumulators that
Wurlitzer used.

Possibly the original accumulator for the Nelson-Wiggen instrument
was missing or broken and someone used this ball bearing accumulator
to replace it.
