I have not yet tested the full mechanism, but visually the case,
hammers, and strings appear to be in reasonably good condition.
It is likely late 19th century based on style and construction.
- Wooden cylinder with pins (nail-type), appears complete
- Wooden case with hand-painted floral/chinoiserie decoration
- Brass-colored plaque on the front reads "Médaille d'Or -
Neyrat - Périgueux".
I understand "Neyrat" may have been a piano retailer/dealer in
Périgueux (Dordogne, France) rather than the actual manufacturer;
if anyone recognizes this name or has come across similar
instruments, I'd be very grateful for any insight into:
(1) The likely manufacturer/origin, (2) approximate age,
(3) a rough valuation range, assuming it's in working or
near-working condition.
I can share photos of the cylinder, case, and nameplate if helpful.
Thank you in advance for any information!
