For sale: barrel piano built by J. Lacape of Paris, a prominent
19th-century French inventor who patented advanced automatic and
mechanical piano systems starting around 1859.
This single-pedal barrel instrument was patented in 1882 and has two
barrels, each with 7 tunes by Leopold Gangloff, a popular composer
in France, who composed more than 600 piano pieces between 1880 and
1890. One of the barrels bears his signature. The barrel is rotated
mechanically from a flywheel driven by the foot pedal.
