Dear Jody, I have in my possession a steam calliope, which I believe
is the largest on the East Coast. My uncle built it in 1962 and fashioned
it after the Christiana Brothers air calliope. It is situated on the back
of an 18-wheel tractor trailer. We have taken it up and down the East Coast
to
parades, fairs, steams shows, etc. I am in desperate need to
find a home for this most unique instrument as my father died 5 years ago
and it was his hobby. It is now sitting in storage waiting to be
played. I have a scanner and can offer pictures and other information.
I read your articles in the Mechanical Music Digest. You can email

Jody, I am sending you a picture of the steam calliope. We are located in PA and my phone number is 717-766-4421. It is played with a keyboard and has a large boiler. I am not quite sure of its size but it is routinely inspected, if that has any meaning. I could find out for you but I will need some time. It has about 40 some solid brass keys. The boiler heats by the use of a generator. We have lights for the evening events which color the steam . I am most interested in marketing it and would appreciate any direction that you might be able to give me.
Thanks so very much!!
