Hi Folks,
After speaking to my attorney and a copyright professional, I found out
that unless someone else has evidence proving they starting using the
word "E-nvoice" prior to 12/96, I now have the exclusive rights to the
word. I don't say this to brag. I was indeed surprised to discover how
such things work and I want to pass the information along.
All that is required to copyright a word or a form is simply to use it
in a professional manner and add the little copyright sign and your
initials which indicates to the world that you are laying claim to said
word. Obviously, keeping a record of the first time you used it is
imperative should your claim be challenged.
What's it worth? At this point in time, I would estimate it's dollar
value to be "0". Now, if some individual or company wanted to use it,
well, that could be a horse of a different color and I'll cross that
bridge when I get there.
In case you are wondering what an "E-nvoice" is, it is simply an E-Mail
Invoice. I'm saving lots of postage, paper and time using the E-Mail
system to accept, order and bill the roll orders that come in via the
Internet.
Musically,¶
