Recovering Drum Heads
By Jon Miller

Check with a general band instrument repair shop, or if you are in a larger area, there may be an independent shop specializing in drum repair.

Replacing a calf-skin head requires not only finding the proper type of skin (it _is_ available) but a fair amount of knowledge and skill to properly tuck the head. I do not know if any of the place which sell the skin will sell to a private party, but any band instrument repair shop should be able to get it for you, if not actually do the work.

(I speak from personal knowledge as this is the business _I_ am in, and once or twice a year we get requests for replacement of calfskin heads.)
