Microsoft Internet Explorer and Encryption
By Pat Mullarky

Jody, There's no doubt my message was a bit of a flame. (I'm usually pretty thick skinned.)

I'm afraid I'm *very* tired of the relentless Microsoft and Windows bashing by people who simply prefer Unix-flavors; it's unnecessary and gives computer-novices the strong impression that there's something terribly wrong with the PC world, when there really isn't. It often leaves them needlessly startled and confused. The behavior seems to be almost embedded in the Unix culture, bashing anything non-Unix, particularly Microsoft ("WinDoze"), almost a reflex action.

As a long-time computer design consultant, it has caused me no end of problems from time to time. (BTW: I use Unix systems in my CAD and CAM work. I have no problem with them; they're simply very different from the PC world, some ways better, some ways worse.)

Anyway, Larry can respond as he chooses. I don't "resign" over someone's untoward or personal comments. Remember the era of the flame wars on Usenet? Luckily it's mostly gone today.

I will offer no rebuttal to any article from Larry you wish to publish. I did, after all, bash him pretty hard. He can flail away. (I don't think any of this belongs in MMD anyway!!)

Sorry to have caused you this hassle! I promise not to flame anybody again! Keep up the good work! -Pat-
