Book: "Kistdraaiorgel", by Johan deVries
By Philip Jamison

I purchased a copy of Johan deVries' organ-building book at the Nationaal
Museum van Speelklok tot Pierement in Holland. I also bought a workbook
which was published later containing more drawings and details.

An English edition would be a great idea, and I hope a publisher can be
found. It's difficult to translate Dutch with a dictionary, particularly
technical words. Maybe someday someone will publish measured drawings of
a larger street organ.

Judith Howard did an impressive cross-sectional drawing of a large
pierement in the Nationaal Museum's Guidebook. Perhaps the Museum itself
has considered this project. I know other musical museums have similar
plans for other musical instruments.
