Tracker Bar Device
By Bob Ricco

Greetings all,

In the 7/26 MMD, Gary Rasmussen mentioned that he was working on a device
consisting of a set of miniature electric valves that would fit on a
tracker bar in place of a roll and allow operation of the instrument
from a MIDI device. I am interested in the possibilities of such a
unit and have wondered if one could be made. Since folks like Wayne
Stahnke have transferred AMPICO rolls to CD, it should be possible to
use that format to control the tracker device and operate the piano from
the CD. My AMPICO rolls are not getting better with age and recuts are
not available for all of the titles so the thought of being able to
supplement my collection with a CD and an electronic "roll" is an
interesting alternative. The only problem is that I would miss watching
the roll go round. Has anyone ever tried this technique (without
altering the instrument)?

Regards,

Bob Ricco

PS- I look forward to reading the MMD each day and wish to laud our editors on
the excellent work they do keeping this forum active and well maintained.

 [ Thanks Bob!
