Possessed Player Piano
By John A. Tuttle

Hi everybody,

A few minutes ago, a customer called to report that her Universal
player piano started rerolling ALL BY ITSELF while she was in the
kitchen.

For information's sake, the roll was already fully rewound and the
sliding spoolbox doors were closed. I only mention that fact because
she has two very active Siamese cats, who could not have accidentally
pushed the Reroll button.

After unplugging the unit to get it to stop rewinding, she plugged
it back in. However, when she attempted to reconnect the roll to
the take-up spool, the unit went back in reroll and pulled the
paper right out of her hands.

A number of other tests were performed, all of which included
unplugging the unit and waiting a minute or so, and the unit
actually started playing for a moment or two before jumping into
rewind again. After the roll was completely rewound, the unit
continued to remain in rewind until it was unplugged.

This problem is so bizarre that I present it to the forum for
scrutiny. Perhaps someone will have a clue as to what might be
happening to allow this condition to persist.

If anyone has any clues, please respond immediately to:

john-bizarre@player-care.com

Thank-you,

John A. Tuttle
