The Player Piano Ring Update
By John A. Tuttle

Hi Everyone,

First, I'd like to thank all of you for joining The Player Piano
Ring. The ring statistics indicate that 630 visitors utilized the
ring in the first four days. In an effort to insure that each
member's site has an equal opportunity of being visited, I've
arranged for the 'Previous', 'Next' and 'Next 5' links to operate
on a rotating basis, changing once a week. So if your counter
doesn't show in significant increase, give it a couple of weeks,
your time will come.

Secondly, I've made a few minor changes in the html fragment. After
running the fragment through Websitegarage and the html checker
at LinkExchange, seven errors were found and corrected. The new
html fragment is still located at: http://www.player-care.com/ringfrg.txt
and I encourage you to update your page at your convenience. The
new fragment is more balanced and more compact. Please don't
forget to amend the fragment with your Site ID number, just as
you did originally.

Lastly, there are 17 sites in the ring and 3 sites waiting
in the Queue. I'd like to see 100 or more sites in the ring. So
if you know of a player-related site, prompt them to join up.
It's a mathematical reality that the greater the number of sites
there are in the ring, the greater the chance is that your site
will be the next (or previous) one to be visited. Promoting
the ring is in your best interest.

In closing, Gabe and I are doing everything we can think of to
make the ring grow. Early last week, I submitted the 'ringinfo'
and 'the_ring' pages to over 640 search indexes and links sites
around the world. If things run true-to-form, the majority of
indexes will post the pages within the next week. The point
being; we're just getting started. Patience is a virtue. Also,
if you have any ideas or suggestions as to how we might 'grow'
the ring any faster, we're all ears, drop us a line at:

john-ring@player-care.com or
gabedellafave@mindspring.com

Thanks again for your participation in the ONLY webring devoted
to the player piano,

John A. Tuttle

BTW, the many and varied Webring sites had a total activity of
over 5 MILLION visitors in the past eight weeks, which rivals
such search indexes as Lycos, InfoSeek, Excite and AltaVista.
It's catching on!!! Pass the word along!!
