Seek Wurlitzer 146 Band Organ Service Data
By Joe Teagarden

Is or was there a service and maintenance document published that
covered the Wurlitzer 146? Or is there any other book, booklet, etc.
that would provide information?

I have one of these "Wunderful Wurlitzers" sitting in my game room
that is struck dumb. It seems to do everything but play. The band
organ had been in storage for about a year, before which it played up
a storm.

The quickly visible thing is that the vacuum switch that sits just to
the right of the take up spool is not reliably sealing. When in play
mode (quietly, at this time), any of the rewind controls will initiate
rewind. At he end of the rewind, it will not go back into play mode
without assuring that this vacuum switch is sealed....

This may have something to do with the problem of no sound. I haven't
discovered which vacuum switch keeps it from playing backwards on re-
wind, but I'm strongly suspicious that this vacuum switch is working
(or should we say that it may be working too well).

I'll probably eventually stumble across all the fixes, but, boy,
would it be helpful to have a road map. I'm a music box person and
I'm having a tough time finding any cylinders, combs or disks to get
friendly with.

Any thoughts would greatly appreciated.

Joe Teagarden
