Play-Rite Perforator Will Recut Wurlitzer Rolls
By Matthew Caulfield

I got a phone call today from John Malone (Play-Rite) saying that,
because Jeanne Malone is setting up to cut 5-tune APP rolls for the
Gilson/Teach project, there is now a window where Play-Rite is willing
to cut other Wurlitzer rolls such as 10-tune APP, Caliola, and style
165 music rolls.

If anyone in the APP field wants 10-tune APP's cut, now is the time to
jump. I can supply the Malones' phone number if you want to call for
more details as to pricing and run size. I would expect that you will
have to take the entire run of any roll you contract to have them cut,
which amounts to about 16-18 rolls.

I told John I'd call him back in two days or so when I decide whether
I want to have any 165's cut. The timing is bad because I just got
from Mike Grant copies of the completely new rolls that I wanted.
There are other 165 rolls, like 6530 and 6615, that I have perfect
copies of that other people have only in less complete form, but I'm
not sure whether it will pay to have them recut if the demand for the
perfect versions is not there. Mike Grant sold out of roll 6516-A and
6723-6724, I believe, which were two of the new ones he did for Bill
Black and me.

There is a demand for various 165 rolls, but it's a very scattered
demand, too scattered to sell large numbers of any one roll, except
perhaps of the new discoveries like 6516-A.
