| Greetings all, I read Dale Abrams question about using an iPad for
playing MIDI files. I don't know of anyone using an iPad device to
wirelessly transmit files, but PianoDisc has a wireless system that
they have been using for several years. It uses a small receiver under
the keyboard to transfer the data. I have also seen a similar e-valve
application on a Knabe 9-foot Ampico and a Steinway Duo-Art, both
remote and wireless, controlled from a Windows laptop.
Dale, you might want to contact PianoDisc for details on their system
(availability and cost, if that's the way you want to go) or I could
get some particulars on the Windows system, with a little time to get
particulars.  I assume that your e-valve system came from Bob Hunt;
does he have any info on how to do it? Perhaps there are others in this
merry band that already have figured it out and will share with all.
I installed an e-valve system in my Mason & Hamlin upright Welte eight
years ago and I have enjoyed it since without any problems. The best
of both technologies!
Cheers,
John McClelland
