Shipping Large Instruments & Parts Abroad
By John Crandall

One word of advice that may seem pretty obvious, but that tripped me up
-- anything sent by ship, i.e., in a container, should be dismantled as
much as is practical and all parts wrapped separately. The vibrations
of the ship's engines can shake the parts that are not firmly secured
or protected by wrapping, resulting in damage that can be serious or at
least annoying.
