Ads
By Craig Brougher

I suspect that a large part of the Digest will gravitate to
advertising, sooner or later. I also believe that if MMD doesn't take
advertising, someone else will. Nothing wrong with it, but I for one
don't like to wade through the for sale stuff in the technical section.
My vote would be to at least organize the bulletin, and to have certain
brevity requirements as well. In other words, no description beyond
what is necessary, since they have the address and can contact the
seller personally. I also like the idea of hanging all the for sale
stuff at the bottom of the Digest for now, later creating a second
"page" just for business. Call it MMC (mechanical music classified). I
think it should be organized in sections then, so a buyer or seller
could go right to that section, like "Rolls, Disks, Music Boxes, Player
Pianos, Collections, Misc. etc." I would also not think it unreasonable
that someone should have to subscribe to it separately and that a
subscription would cost a modest amount. I would also suggest that
sooner or later the buyer or seller ("For Sale" and "Wanted") will be
required to divide his offerings into these categories, so will have to
send several e-mails to meet category requirements. This could
eventually get huge. Don't rule out the possibility of making some
money on this, Jody. You deserve it!
