How to Start

I've had a long-standing fascination with automatic musical instruments,
and would like to acquire one, or restore one, or whatever.

How does one go about finding one, and then, how does one proceed with
restoration?  I am an accomplished woodworker, having entered work in the
Del Mar Fair for the past 10 years, and have a small, but fairly adequate
shop at home.  I'm not too sure my wife agrees with this potential turn
in my "woodworking" hobby, but I sure would like to know more.
