Windows XP Compatibility
By Ray Finch

Have you looked at Windows 2000? I have found (with a few nasty
exceptions) that most DOS programs seem to run fine under Windows 2000.
The exceptions being any program that wants to talk to hardware directly
(i.e. not using a system driver) or that requires a DOS driver.

Beyond this basic problem Windows 2000 is VERY reliable compared to
Windows 98 or even Windows XP. At though XP does have some good stuff
going for it (such as the DOS compatibility mode) it is basically the
next version after Millenium with is the next version after Windows 98
-- overall, not a good track record.

I have run Windows 2000 for over a year not and I am very happy with
it, comparatively speaking. Windows itself almost never crashes and if
a program does crash it doesn't take Windows down with it, Windows just
keeps going.
