Holes Transposed in Wurlitzer Roll 6688-6690

I am not familiar with the roll in question but what he describes
may be a punching error. I had a Wurlitzer 165 roll that was cut by
Play-Rite that had a transposing error. It was a composite roll,
6688-6690, which had the tune "There Goes That Song Again" on it.

I was not familiar with the tune until I played the roll for the first
time, so I didn't know how it was supposed to sound. Everything went
alright until it got to a section of the tune where it sounded all
wrong. After some investigation, I found that the roll was punched one
hole off from what it should be. The same error was repeated in the
second verse. I taped over the incorrect holes and hand cut new holes
in the correct position. After that, the roll sounded fine.

This posting is not intended to be critical of Play-Rite. They have
provided an invaluable service to those of us who prefer to play our
instruments in the traditional way. Errors have been rare and the vast
majority of rolls I have purchased from them have been of high quality.
