Hi MMD,  I have tried several means of obtaining an operators manual
for a 1980 Universal Nickelodeon, all without success.  The unit
plays beautifully with no problems.  However the rewind function gives
problems.  Most of the time it will rewind the roll up to the point
where there are still a few turns of the paper remaining.  At this
point the unit shuts down and basically locks up  refusing to finish
the rewind.  There is apparently some combination of pressing the
control buttons which I have yet to discover that will cause it to
finish the rewind.

There are several controls at the bottom of the spool box.  From left
to right they are (1) a button with no label but with a piece of tape
placed there by the previous owner that says "on", (2) a button labeled
"reroll", (3) the tempo lever, (4) a button labeled "play", and
(5) a toggle switch labeled "automatic".

Has anyone had any experience with these units that can tell me how to
solve the reroll problems?
