To anyone who can assist, I have a hybridization problem:
I have received excellent advice from the members of the digest, and now
I have another puzzler. My Pratt-Read upper action is mated to a
Gulbransen lower action. (I purchase the piano like that.) I have
successfully interfaced the two with a few supply tube adaptations,
and a custom foot pump bracket. Here is the result:
- When the wind motor governor is adjusted to yield a steady motor
speed, the fastest that I can drive the motor is about tempo 70.
Increasing the external spring tension increases the speed a little,
but I need more than that. I think the Gulbransen lower action
output is insufficient for the Pratt-Read action. I'd like to get
tempo up to the 130 indicated on the scale, if possible (but even
90-100 would be nice). I would prefer NOT to make permanent
modifications to the Gulbransen unit, as I may replace it some day
and some other sole may have a use for it.
( I am looking for a Pratt-Read lower action. I know this is
the best solution. Maybe someone knows where one is sitting idle.)
Thanks for any advice,
Larry Toto
