Just to make sure I didn't lose anyone from the list of those who
requested the Kern-Keller list of Carl Frei tunes, here are the
names I have: Conant, Deland, Jamison, Rhodes (Robbie variety),
Rutoskey, and Yost.
The vast majority of titles are in German, so it will be helpful
if you can read the language a little, so that, for example, you
can recognize "Fruhlingstimmen" as Strauss's "Voices of Spring."
Even then it's a grab bag (at least for me) with titles like
"Cowboy Jimmy" or "Rosamunde" or "Das Karussell." By the way,
the figure 3880 for one of the tune counts was my typing error;
it should instead be 380.
On another, sad subject: It was a shock to learn of Claes
Friberg's sudden death. I never had the pleasure of meeting him
myself, but my wife, who is also Danish, was warmly received by
Claes and his rather new wife a year or two ago on one my wife's
trips "home." I had some questions for her to put to Claes, and
he not only answered them but extended gracious hospitality to
Mrs. Caulfield, when she appeared at the Friberg doorstep with
only a phone call of advance warning.
