65/88 Note Player Transition
By Joe Hutter

In the recent message written by Terry Smythe, it is mentioned that ..."if it really is 1906, then ......at best it may be a 65/88 foot pumper". Then later in the same message, he goes on to say that ... "with a few 65/88 in that 1912 transitional year..." To the best of my knowledge, I believe the so called transitional year was 1910 and in fact several player manufacturers made pumpers which had two tracker bars - one for each roll standard. This allowed the pianolist to play either type of roll on the same player piano. (I have one, a Knabe ~ Angelus and have written an article about it - will be published in MBSI later this year)

Best Regards, Joe
