Playing Standard Rolls on D/A Pianos.
By John Phillips

Darrell Clarke pointed out in the Digest that one can do a really good job of playing Themodist rolls on a Duo/Art player. This is true, but I believe there is one small catch. As I understand it, due to some foul-up when the D/A was introduced, the division in the stack of a D/A is one note different from the division in the stack of a Themodist player. This means there will be some times when the accenting snakebites will be on the wrong edge of the roll. Then the wrong note or no note will be accented. This isn't the most serious of problems, and most people wouldn't notice it - and that probably includes me.

But was an annoying bit of manufacturing carelessness - if my story is true. One person who will know is Dan Wilson. Thank goodness he's back from Spain. How about it Dan? Give us the benefit of your wisdom on this.

John Phillips.
