Craig,
Would appreciate your suggestions on how to quickly and easily apply
small amounts of hot glue accurately.
After a 10+ year hiatus, I'm getting back into restoration and trying
to do many things differently and more efficiently if possible. For
example,:
1. How do you apply the minimum amount of glue under a new pouch and
still somehow acquire the needed 'dish' without making a "mell of a
hess" with glue ending up everywhere? Drove me nuts!
I could find no detailed reference to this step in either your book, or
Art Reblitz's book. Although Art does illustrate a vacuum operated
pouch setter, he doesn't say where such a tool can be found. What do
other people do?
2. After splitting Ampico valves and re-pouching, how do you reglue the
two halves back together?
I found it impossible to successfully clamp the 2 halves back
together. The glue is simply too slippery for the 2 halves to line
up accurately under clamp pressure. They slide all over the place,
forcing finger tip clamping for each and every valve as the glue
sets. Incredibly time consuming and not really as tight as I would
have preferred. What do other people do?
Regards,
Terry
