Optical Scanner for Music Box Discs

There has been some off and on discussion of optically read piano rolls. Is there any interest (or information) from the digest readers for the development of a system which could optically read music box discs. I am currently working on the transcription of a Stella disc to a cake walk file and let me tell you, it is a chore. I'd appreciate any input on the subject.
