Re: Safety Hazards
By George R. Johnson

Hi digest:

Above all we need to make electrical wiring safe. Different cleaning
and electrical agents have been outlawed due to causing health problems.

I am retired from the Telephone Co. At one time we used carbon tetra-
chloride for cleaning contacts -- it will kill you; not right now, but
over a period oftime. A dirty nickel is a poor conductor; poor
conductivity could be the reason for over heating.

I am involved with pipe organs. The first of Jan. 1990 several pipe
organ builders produced a new NEC code for pipe organs. The insulation
and fusing is the main topic, plus the wire sizing to carry the
projected load. Personally, a few minor safety improvements doesn't
destroy the historical value anymore than a better (newer) stain or
finish.
