Folks, I received this question the other day but was unable answer it
with experience, as I haven't yet restored my Stoddard Ampico. It seems
to me that this switch does basically the same thing as the brilliant,
modified & subdued switch in the Model A but in a more complicated
manner. "Am I right or wrong?"

In reading the description in the 1919 "Inspectors Instruction Book" it
tends to be a little confusing in their description. So I was wondering
if someone could maybe give a more simplified version of this so that
I could help out the gentleman in the above text, who by the way
confesses to being quite a novice in the area of reproducing pianos,
so simplifying it would help his cause no end (if you can simplify a
probable re-build!!!).

Actually he lives in Atlanta so I "guess" some of you are LITTLE closer
than I, so if you feel obliged to help out drop me a line and I'll pass
on the address.

Regards
