Help! I got a request for assessment of some 12 player piano rolls.
Usually I tell people that old rolls are typically not very valuable.
(My opinion has not changed!) But this individual must feel that they
are worth more than the $4-7 I suggested under the proviso that they
were in very good condition.
As a post script to my reply, I said it was difficult to determine value
without the titles, artist, etc. So -- you guessed it -- he sent me a
list. The fact be known, I'm not involved with collecting so I have no
data, but I hate to just hang-up on the guy. So I'm posting this list
for you to peruse.
Any comments would be appreciated. I'll ask him to give me a few days to
check it out. Thanks,
John Tuttle
P.S. I'll also ask him if it's ok to post his address for replys.¶
P.P.S. I found two of the titles in the latest Q.R.S. catalog.

[ John, those titles resemble the ones I stoke the fire with,
[ and which sell for 50 cents at the flea market. But --

[
[ Instrument dealers, like our members Marty Roenigk and Brian
[ Chesters, have published their estimate of the selling value
[ of instruments, and this is great information for everyone.
[
[ I hope our members who buy and sell old piano rolls, and who
[ are well-acquainted with the old titles, can offer help.
[ Get their names from the list of Mechanical Music Sources
[ in Digest 960807. -- Robbie
